Thyssen Krupp Steel Europe and Solliance will jointly develop a joint R&D project for organic photovoltaic products.
Solliance is the ELAT region thin film photovoltaic power generation R&D company and the manufacturer of coated flat steel products ThyssenSteelEurope saw the hope of combining organic photovoltaic products and flat steel products for construction.
The potential lies in the increasing attention paid to building energy conservation in the construction sector. The method of energy neutralization and energy self-sufficiency is to combine the clean energy generation technology and the outer layers of buildings. BIPV has advantages in building access to photovoltaic systems. These systems can be incorporated into buildings and have power generation capabilities. The purpose is to let the steel strips on the photovoltaic panels allow them to have OPV (organic photovoltaic) functions during production.
With the application of organic photovoltaics to flat steel products, it is possible to produce a beautifully designed and friendly product. This will accelerate the market acceptance of PV products. Collective organic photovoltaic products can be applied to the roof and side walls of buildings, increasing the building's power generation area and increasing the clean power delivered.
Organic photovoltaic technology can be applied to the production of reel coated sheet steel bars and bring additional value. Thyssen Krupp Steel Europe’s Bettina Werner Bosch stated that the joint research was conducted at Solliance and brought together various partners with different focuses to accelerate the development of standard integrated photovoltaic solutions.
