How to make mango grafting seedlings?

When the mango rootstock grows to a height of 45 cm and reaches a height of more than 1 cm at a height of 25 cm, it can be grafted. Grafting is generally carried out in the months of February to May and August to October. Different grafting methods are used depending on the thickness of the rootstock. The smaller rootstock adopts the joint method; if the rootstock is thicker than the scion, the cutting method can be adopted; the thicker old rootstock can be attached by the bud patch.

(1) Joining method: Select the mature tip of the top of the canopy as the scion, preferably the top bud that has just sprouted but has not yet sprouted. Immediately after the shoots are removed, the leaves are cut off, leaving a little petiole, and the base of the petiole is removed when grafting. When grafting, the rootstock is slanted from bottom to top at a height of 25 cm into a smooth incision. The length of the incision depends on the thickness of the stem, but it should be at least 2.5 cm. Keep the leaves as much as possible on the rootstock. In the grafted part, the thickness of the scion should be equivalent to the rootstock, and the length of the scion is 5-8 cm, preferably with a top bud. The scion is cut into a smooth cut that corresponds to the rootstock. The rootstock and the scion's incision are closely fitted, tied with a 1.5 cm wide plastic film strip and the scion is sealed and moisturized. Mango grafting should use this method as much as possible.

(2) Cutting method: Select to cut flat on the smooth surface of the rootstock and remove the upper part of the rootstock. Then, a smooth cut is made down on the smooth side along the junction of the xylem and the cortex, and the length of the cut should be more than 2.5 cm. Similarly, the scion is also cut into a long plane corresponding to the rootstock on the smooth surface, and the base of the reverse side is inclined at a 45 degree angle to the long plane. Then, the scion cut surface is correspondingly inserted into the cutting surface of the rootstock, at least one side of the rootstock and the scion forming layer are in close contact with each other, and the sealing is tightly sealed according to the joining method.

(3) Bud patching method: For some large old rootstocks, it is difficult to operate by both joining and cutting. The advantage of the bud patching method is that the rootstock does not have to be cut first, so it can be grafted all year round. The specific method is: select a smooth part more than 25 cm from the ground, cut into the cortex with a sharp knife into a T-shape, the depth just reaches the xylem, and pick the cortex with the tip of the knife. Select the strong side buds on the scion, cut a knife in the upper and lower sides of the buds, and make a rectangle, peel off the buds, insert the buds into the rootstock incision, and then tie them with the film strip to expose the buds to the outside of the film. Check about 10-15 days later, after the buds survive, cut or saw the rootstock about 1 cm above it to stimulate the germination of the buds.

The grafted seedlings should be shaded more than 50%, and the shading net will be removed after the first turn to green. At the same time, the germination on the rootstock should be removed at any time before the bud grows. After the upper seedling grows, the lower part of the seedling will stop.
