Efficient top-notch cylindrical grinding machine Jupiter 500 uses 9-axis CNC control and lifting crane for fast and convenient grinding wheel change
In 2001, the JUNKER Group presented the newly designed Jupiter series of top-notch cylindrical grinding machines at the European Machine Tool Show for the first time. The manufacturer BSHHolice is a company of the JUNKER Group. The company employs 330 people and produces horizontal surface grinders and double-grinding surface grinders in addition to cylindrical grinders.
With its complete product range, the JUNKER Group offers epoch-making high-speed grinding machines worldwide. Its grinding machine uses super-hard CBN/diamond grinding material for machining the drive shaft, crankshaft and camshaft between the two tops. At present, the company can provide almost all machine solutions for grinding.
Centerless grinding machine with inclined bed
At present, a special process in the centerless cylindrical grinding machine market is the bed tilting solution of the Jupiter series.
For the corresponding machining process, topless grinding is faster and better than the top of the two in most cases (because the guide wheel takes over the support function of the workpiece).
In a conventional tipless cylindrical grinding machine, the clamping pressure of the workpiece to the guide wheel is mainly determined by the lead angle of the guide. The smaller the guide angle is, the larger the clamping pressure is, and the better the rotary followability is, so that the roundness of the machining is optimized. However, this method has the disadvantage that the friction between the workpiece and the guide plate increases as the lead angle becomes smaller.
Compared to traditional flat bed grinders, the new Jupiter series of bed tilting solutions increase the clamping pressure by changing the geometry of the workpiece to accept gravity while the guide angle remains constant. Another outstanding advantage of the Jupiter model is its exceptionally robust anti-twist and vibration-resistant bed and fully automatic grinding spindle balancing system.
The standard configuration of this model is the Siemens 840D control system and the Siemens drive on all axes.
Automated equipment, such as raw materials and blanking or automatic measurement correction functions can be implemented according to user requirements. Correction of any type of guide wheel and grinding wheel can be done separately on the CNC cross tool holder. A spindle change system developed specifically for guide wheels and grinding wheels allows the preparation time to be completed in a matter of minutes. Jupiter machines are supplied according to the following four structural specifications depending on the grinding width: 125, 250, 500 and 750 mm.
