It is reported that the UK will conduct drone testing to improve the aircraft's control system.
British Aerospace will use the Jeststream 31, which can drive autonomously, for 17 flights. The take-off and landing will be done by human pilots, but in the 300-mile (482-kilometer) flight distance from Lancashire to Inverness, the aircraft will be unmanned. The test will evaluate flight software and monitoring systems for clouds and other aircraft.
The Jeststream aircraft will use data collected through satellite and aircraft identification systems. The aircraft identification system is capable of recording radio signals from transceivers and other aircraft. The camera is also equipped with a camera that can detect even if other flying objects do not issue a warning signal. It also measures the air around the aircraft and finds bad weather or thick clouds so that the aircraft can adjust the line to avoid turbulence or other "dangerous situations."
The aircraft will conduct the autopilot test at a height of 4.6 kilometers, which is expected to take 90 minutes.
