The low blue light transmittance of the ocean impedes the application of underwater solar energy to a certain extent. Recently, the United States Naval Research Laboratory claimed that they used a material called indium phosphide to replace the traditional crystalline silicon and successfully made a highly efficient underwater solar panel available. The basic design principle is to rely on the unique absorption of blue and green light by the material to absorb the spectral energy that has not been filtered by seawater, and the maximum water depth can reach 30 feet (9 meters). With this new design, various underwater monitoring systems have a more convenient way of energy acquisition and the prospects for development are very promising.

The sheer number of passengers a commercial Trav-O-Lator® carries, demands that safety has to be the overiding concern. In this respect the Otis 606 NCT's performance is unsurpassed. By way of example, tapered deflectors prevent objects from entering the handrail entry box (a design unique to OTIS). Trolleys can be transported in safety. And the balustrade, with an ideal 1000 mm height at landings, is constructed of 10 mm thick safety glass. |
