Miso is usually made from fermented soybeans with soy as raw material. It is considered as one of the representatives of traditional Japanese foods, similar to Chinese soy sauce. Earlier research reports said that miso helps prevent diseases such as stomach cancer and colon cancer.
Researchers at Hiroshima University in Japan fed different diets to experimental rats susceptible to high blood pressure. The first group contained miso, the second group contained no miso, but the salt content was the same as that of the first group, and the third group had extremely low salt content. . Results The second group of rats quickly suffered from stroke, cerebral thrombosis and other conditions, while the first group of rats and the third group of mice were almost as healthy.
The researchers analyzed that the substances produced when soybeans are used to make miso are likely to help alleviate the effects of salt in foods. In general, the more salt the body takes, the more easily the blood pressure rises. Therefore, miso may help reduce high blood pressure and play a role in preventing diseases such as stroke.
