He believed that the key to the design of hotel furniture is to express its characteristics according to the innate resources of the venue and exert the “place spirit”.

Even

The following is an interview record:

Reporter: What do you think is the most important principle in hotel design?

Lianyi: As a place for people to experience and serve, I believe that the most important key in the design process is to design according to the innate resources and advantages of different venues to highlight the characteristics of the site. The words are called "place spirit." It can reflect the spirit of the place, but it is also a unique experience. This is the core principle of our hotel design.

Reporter: Is your design inspired by it?

Lianhua: In order to reflect the "place spirit" and unique manifestation, we must proceed from the fundamental starting point - "site". Like our previous project, the Four Seasons Hotel in Hangzhou West Lake is a borrowing scene that uses Chinese tradition. How to design the hotel with the West Lake, how to cooperate with the distant mountains is the focus of our attention. The way the landscape is implemented is the factor we need to control. In addition, according to the positioning of the hotel, we should cooperate visually and spatially. Especially for holiday hotels, this is the core factor.

Reporter: We often advocate design to be people-oriented, and hotel design is also promoting home. Where are these reflected?

Lian Wei: When we first arrived at the hotel, we were thinking about what kind of experience we could offer our guests. It would make him want to come back and linger. The special visual impact of the guests at the beginning of the store, the special design may be very impressive, but often some people-oriented design, people feel very comfortable and relaxed, will make a person really fall in love with this hotel. In addition, I think that people-oriented is reflected in the use of new technologies such as new media, WeChat, and the Internet. Generally, the hotel shows the hotel to customers through some flat photos, but the most important thing is that the guests can see it when they come to the scene. You can see the three-dimensional things, which is impressive. Especially now check-in, check-out can be done through the network, and it is also the progress of the current technology. Service problems can be solved with technology, especially for small hotels, which can reduce their operating costs.

Reporter: The ultimate goal of the hotel is to make a profit. In the aspect of hotel design, what should be done to improve the quality of the hotel to achieve the ultimate goal of profitability?

Lian Wei: Our company started from the tourist club and has been doing it for ten years. The most representative of the changes in the entire design process may mean that the entire domestic hotel industry has not been professional enough from the beginning, and has only begun to systematically develop in the last ten years. In the past, the most important thing to do in a hotel was “positioning”. In the same location, what kind of customer needs are, what the owner wants his pattern, and these details are fixed before designing the hotel. Most of our companies are undertaking business hotels. As long as they are clearly positioned, they will have their own routine. As long as you accumulate experience, what kind of ideas you need for a hotel will be clear to you; now, the goal of a hotel to be profitable may not be as clear as it used to be. Now the hotel is more of a leader in the owner’s investment project. Logos, sights, owners can use the profits in the investment project to help the hotel's operating costs, so the design can meet the five-star standard. But once the project is completed and the hotel becomes an independent entity, it is necessary to make a sustainable development plan with the biggest goal of profit.

Reporter: Now advocate sustainable development, what efforts does GOA have on green buildings?

Lian Wei: Green building is the direction of our company's next step, and it is also the key to the future development of the whole industry and the whole society. Now we will not blindly seek development, regardless of the consequences. In particular, there will be state-directed policies. These comprehensive requirements are driving the whole industry toward green buildings and environmental protection. It is also the direction of social progress and the future direction of our GOA.

Reporter: You have been a designer for many years. Now there are many young designers. Do you have any good suggestions for them?

Lien Chan: Social progress is very fast, especially in the past 20-30 years, Chinese society has made very long progress in all aspects. Although it is difficult to define the extent of this progress, it can be seen that the current market is a highly engaged market. Unlike when we graduated, there are many opportunities. The current market is increasingly demanding the capabilities of designers. I think this is normal because it is inevitable that society will develop to a certain extent. But there are indeed a lot of talented and enthusiastic young designers who will surely welcome their time in the future. They just need an opportunity.

Reporter: In recent years, the use of traditional Chinese elements in design has become more and more extensive, so how to use these elements more reasonably in hotel design?

Lian Wei: This is also the characteristic of many recent projects. The cultural consciousness is playing an important role more and more, so everyone likes to return to the root of their own culture to design. But like painting, there are many different styles, and there will be many new situations that arise with the development of culture. So now the cultural refinement in the East is also like this. Traditional implications and abstract things are traditional images that can be embodied in a physical object. For example, in a room, I put a European-style table, or a Chinese-style purple teapot, the overall feeling of this room is different. So in fact, this is a very subtle thing. We hope that like the West Lake Hotel in Hangzhou, although there are traditional style buildings, the designers still hope to combine some modern things under the image of traditional culture. We hope that this design not only reflects the feeling of Suzhou gardens in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also makes people feel "present". Although he is a representative of Chinese style architecture, I also hope that you can feel it in the hotel. He is a modern, current thing, not a completely old-fashioned restoration.

Reporter: What are the hobbies besides design?

Lian: I love art and love painting. Because I think art and architecture are connected. Like the development of painting, there is a process from the traditional to the impressionist to the modernist, to the abstract expressionism, etc. This process is actually related to the idea of people to society. The same is true of architecture. As a person in a society, an architect also serves people in society. The pursuit and common sense that you want to do are inherently interoperable. The second hobby is exercise, and any type of sport loves it.

Reporter: Thank you.
