At first, Platemat was a machine type commissioned by the customer. It is the first indexable insert grinding machine owned by the JUNKER Group in Nordrach. Rough grinding wheel and fine grinding wheel
Unlike other machine tool builders, the JUNKER experts did not choose a cup-type grinding wheel on the PLATEMAT machine, but instead used a coarse grinding wheel and a fine grinding wheel mounted on the B-axis. When the workpiece is ground, the rough grinding wheel is first used for high-speed grinding, and then finely machined by the grinding wheel to polish the surface of the workpiece. Compared with the cup-shaped grinding wheel, the peripheral grinding process can produce a finer cutting edge with a very small workpiece contact surface, thus better ensuring the high quality of the cutting edge.
In addition, in the production of indexable inserts with large grinding allowances, the “grinding-grinding†can be used with the “Grind-to-Size†machining solution. In this way, a blank can be used to grind workpieces of different geometries without the need to place different blanks on the support. JUWOP/SG software advantages
Having the JUWOP/SG integration package is one of the distinguishing features of Platemat. Through the parameter description, this software can coordinate the control system with the machine tool. Simply input a small number of parameters to define the blade grinding process and calculate the CNC grinding program for user-friendly operation. Non-standard profiles can be programmed in a variety of ways, such as by setting precise start and end point data, or by programming the system to position edges or faces and calculate the intersection position.
