The reporter learned from the 203th Institute of China Aerospace Science and Industry on the 11th that the self-developed space-active hydrogen atomic clock won the bid in the loading and selection of the space atomic clock in the manned space project. The product will be launched in 2022 for use in our space station. .
The space atomic clock project is extremely difficult and complex in many projects for manned space flight in China. The project will establish a time-frequency laboratory in outer space to verify relevant scientific experiments that cannot be completed on the surface of the Earth, such as Einstein's general theory of relativity. The project is scheduled to be launched in 2022. It will use Dawning Clock, Xenon Fountain Clock, and active hydrogen atomic clock to form a space atomic clock set. The active hydrogen clock acts as a core load and will operate without interruption for a long time.
At that time, China will conduct time comparisons in a wider space. The system produces high-accuracy, high-stability time-frequency signals that will enhance Beidou’s navigation system capabilities. After the project is realized, it is expected to have a greater impact on global positioning, punctuality, and timing.
According to Zhou Tiezhong, the project leader, the active hydrogen atomic clock can continuously output stable and accurate frequency signals. In the mature atomic clock products, the short-term and high-term indicators are the highest, but the previous product was limited in volume and weight in application. The product developed by 203 used the storage and loading separation technology to achieve high reliability, miniaturization and process optimization. The overall weight of the prototype is about 40 kilograms, and the volume is 1/5 of the traditional product. (Wu Yu reporter Fu Yifei)
