There were 2 vehicles involved in the case and 3 persons involved in the case were arrested. This is the first "foreign garbage" smuggling case seized since the operation of the "National Gate Li Jian 2018" by Dongxing Customs.
From December 31, 2017, China has comprehensively strengthened the management of solid waste imports, and has completely banned the import of 24 types of solid waste such as waste plastics and waste textile raw materials. The Dongxing Customs Anti-smuggling Branch seized one of the categories of waste plastic pellets and plastic scraps that were completely banned from import. “Western garbage†refers to solid waste that does not meet the national environmental protection control standards and poses a hazard to environmental safety and human health.
According to reports, recently, the Dongxing Customs Anti-smuggling Branch received a report from the public, saying that two trucks loaded with smuggled plastic were prepared to transfer goods in Dongxing City. After preliminary judgment on the clue, the branch sent a private police to check the police.
Smuggling police officers drove police cars to inspect a section of Dongxing City and found suspicious trucks. Upon on-site inquiry, it was determined that the truck was a vehicle that transported foreign garbage, and then the smuggling police seized another truck that was carrying the cargo. After preliminary inspection, the batch of "foreign garbage" was packed in two layers of woven bags, and the second layer of woven bags contained foreign language marks. The "foreign garbage" in the woven bag is waste plastic granules, powder, glass, etc., and weighs 29.74 tons. The case is currently under investigation.
The customs department said that waste plastic granules and shredded smuggled from abroad will generally flow into small domestic workshops. During the process of re-processing these "foreign garbage", gases harmful to the environment and human body will be produced, and after processing, The remaining scraps will also cause damage to the ecological environment during the decomposition process.
This year, the Customs will carry out a special campaign against smuggling by “Guomen Lijian 2018†to determine the implementation of special strikes and centralized rectification in five key areas. Among them, the smuggling against "foreign garbage" was identified as "No. 1 Project".
