SMM Network News: According to the latest statistics released by the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), global stainless steel output fell 2.8% to 8.6 million tons in the first quarter of 2012. Stainless steel output in all regions has declined to varying degrees due to overcapacity and demand. Weary.
The ISSF expects that stainless steel output will not continue to decline during the rest of the year and will increase slightly throughout the year. The current view is that actual demand will promote the active trading of stainless steel market, and there will be restocking demand in the second half of the year.

In the first quarter, stainless steel production in China and other Asian regions fell by 1.2% and 0.6% respectively, to 3.433 million tons and 2.226 million tons.
In the first quarter of Western Europe and Africa, the output of stainless steel was 2.21 million tons, down 0.3%; in the first quarter of Eastern Europe and Central Europe, the output of stainless steel was 76,000 tons, a decrease of 14.8%.
