Fertilizer production in the first quarter increased by 3.9% year-on-year

According to the latest statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics, in the first quarter of this year, China produced a total of 17.3219 million tons of chemical fertilizers (ordinal amount, the same below), an increase of 3.9% year-on-year. Hubei, Shandong, Guizhou, Henan, and Shanxi ranked the top five in terms of output, with output of 2,727,500 tons, 1,423,100 tons, 1,348,600 tons, 1,337,100 tons, and 1,113,600 tons respectively. Among them, Guizhou produced the largest increase of 12.96%, Henan increased by 8.2%, the growth rate ranked second, and the remaining 3 provinces were negative growth, the decline rate ranged from 2.66% to 5.65%.

In terms of sub-species, the output of phosphate fertilizer and potash fertilizer increased by a large margin, both of which increased by more than double digits. In the first quarter, China produced a total of 4.274 million tons of phosphate fertilizer, an increase of 11.82% year-on-year, and the increase was the highest since last year. The main reason is that due to better international demand, the price of diammonium phosphate has remained relatively high in recent years, and the company’s production enthusiasm is relatively high. In the first quarter, China produced a total of 934,600 tons of potash fertilizer, a year-on-year increase of 13.67%. Some of the potash fertilizer manufacturers in Qinghai this year were also producing in January and February, but most of them were in production in previous years, resulting in an increase in potash fertilizer production this year. Although nitrogen fertilizer production also showed a positive growth, but the growth was slow. In the first quarter, China produced a total of 120.517 million tons of nitrogen fertilizer, which was only 0.3% higher than the same period of last year. It was the smallest increase among the three NPK fertilizers.

From the perspective of specific products, in the first quarter of this year, China produced 8.115 million tons of urea, a year-on-year decrease of 0.51%. The total amount of synthetic ammonia produced was 14.4292 million tons, an increase of 1.21% year-on-year.
